At Rosser Optometry we have invested in state-of-the-art optical equipment which gives us a more in-depth look at your eye health. Our technology enables us to detect glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, ocular lesions, retinal detachments, and other diseases. The tests are quick, easy and painless.
Retinal imaging involves taking digital pictures of the back of your eye to assess the retina, blood vessels, optic nerve and macula. This helps in obtaining an overall health check and more specifically the early detection of disease that could affect your vision.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
An OCT is often likened to an MRI scan of the eye. It takes cross-sectional images of the retina, optical disc and cornea. This procedure is currently the only one that shows in-depth images of the eyes internal surface, making it a powerful diagnostic tool. It detects early signs of eye disease and helps monitor disease as each image is stored and used as a baseline measure against future scans.
The Optomap takes an ultra-widefield view of the retina for the detection and management of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes and even cancer. It captures a staggering 80% of your retina while traditional methods capture only 15%. It’s as quick and simple as having a picture taken.
